It’s a night full of NLDS action with the Braves and Brewers at 5:07 PM and the Dodgers and Giants at 9:07 PM ET.
NLDS G2: Braves at Brewers
Milwaukee’s Brewers took the first game of their NLDS matchup with the Atlanta Braves by a final score of 2-1 last night, giving them an early advantage over the NL East champions, but Braves’ skipper Brian Snitker told reporters after the game that he was feeling good heading into Game 2 tonight.
“I have Max Fried pitching. I feel good every time he takes the mound for us,” Snitker said.
“Like I say, we knew this ball game was going to be rough. The runs would be at a premium. And they were. It was exactly what I thought was — going in — that this game would be, somebody got a big hit. And a lot of times most of the big hits in the postseason they’re homers. They hit one and we didn’t. But it was a good ballgame.”
Fried goes for the Braves tonight against Brewers’ right-hander Brandon Woodruff, who told reporters in advance of his Game 2 start that there were advantages to being able to watch his opponent in the series opener before taking the mound himself.
“You can learn a lot,” Woodruff explained. “Anytime you can sit and watch — and sometimes we, in some ways, we attack the same way. So you can learn a lot from — in that way. But just seeing how the hitters will come out and try to attack Corbin [Burnes], you kind of can get an idea of how they’ll approach the next day. So, anytime you can sit there and watch and try to learn you can try to pick up on something for sure.”
Game 2 starts at 5:07 PM ET.
NLDS G2: Dodgers at Giants
With a 4-0 win last night, the Giants have an early advantage in their matchup with the LA Dodgers, and they’re back in the San Francisco’s Oracle Park tonight, at 9:07 PM ET in the second game of their best-of-five series.
Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts was asked after LA’s loss in the series opener how his club will try to get the momentum of their Wild Card win back.
“I know Julio [Urías is] going to be prepared,” he said of his Game 2 starter.
“These guys do a really good job in the first inning and it was apparent tonight. So to have that shut-down first inning and potentially put up a run in that, in the top, would be helpful.”
“Coming out there,” he added, “taking good at-bats in the first inning, and putting a shut-down inning in the first.”
Giants’ manager Gabe Kapler talked in his own post game press conference about the vibe in his club’s home park in Game 1.
“It’s a lot of fun and obviously two great teams who are — who want this and are prepared for it and I definitely think the environment was right where we wanted it to be tonight.”
Game 2? Will the Dodgers even it up or fall behind two games?
