Follow along as the Washington Nationals look to secure their third straight series win
Despite striking out 19 times last night, the Nationals won 2-1 thanks to great pitching and a Riley Adams home run. Winners of three straight, the Nationals will look to take the series against an Astros team who’s injury problems finally seem to be catching up with them.
After a day off, Miguel Cairo has decided to put his star James Wood back in the lineup. Wood has had massive issues making contact this month, so fans will be looking for him to make some adjustments. Luis Garcia Jr. will also be back in the lineup with a right handed pitcher on the mound. This very well could be Michael Soroka’s last start in a Nationals uniform with the trade deadline approaching.

The Astros are also going to make some tweaks to their lineup. Rookie standout Cam Smith will be in the lineup. The Nationals had a chance to select him in the 2024 MLB Draft, but took Seaver King instead. Shay Whitcomb will also be inserted into the lineup. Journeyman Jason Alexander will get the start for the injury ravaged Astros.

The Nationals are playing good ball and are looking to keep that up. With the trade deadline on Thursday, this could be the last time we see guys like Michael Soroka and Kyle Finnegan, maybe even MacKenzie Gore. Feel free to talk about all things Nationals baseball in the comments below.
