After a failed comeback yesterday followed by questionable comments by the manager, the Nats look to salvage the final game of the series again the fish
It was a wild one on and off the field yesterday for the Nats, as their comeback attempt in the 9th came up short and they lost 4-3 for their 7th consecutive loss, followed by manager Davey Martinez deflecting all blame from himself and his coaching staff after being asked who’s at fault. There were a few bright spots for the club, as Trevor Williams gave them a solid 5 1⁄3 innings of 2 run ball and CJ Abrams got on base 3 times, but it wasn’t enough to lift them over the last place Marlins, who have flashed serious potential for the future this series based on the performance of their young guys.
The Nationals will look to salvage the final game of this series with their ace MacKenzie Gore on the bump, who went 6 innings giving up 2 runs in an no decision versus the Mets in his last start. The lineup sees a shakeup as Alex Call lead off versus a righty for the first time and CJ Abrams slides into the three hole. Clearly Davey is trying to shake things up in hopes it will give this offense that has been the worst in baseball in June a spark.

The Marlins will throw Eury Perez, their blooming ace making his second start since returning from TJ surgery, as they attempt to secure the sweep this afternoon. Perez went only 3 innings giving up 4 runs in his return vs the Pirates, so expect another shorter outing from him today as he ramps back up. The lineup for the fish shakes up with a lefty on the mound, with their best bat Kyle Stowers hitting the bench.

Today may very well be a deciding game in the future of multiple players and coaches on this Nationals team, as getting swept at home by the last place division rival Miami Marlins for the clubs 8th straight loss would almost surely have to lead to some kind of change. Will they turn it around? Comment down below and let’s go Nats!
