In a recent commentary in the Carroll County Times, “Two Speeches that define Trump,” columnist Tom Zirpoli asks, how could anyone watch President Donald Trump’s speeches to the United Nations General Assembly and the one he gave to our military leaders and still approve of his performance as president? Zirpoli also stated that Trump lied about ending seven wars and will go down as one of the worst presidents in history.
What happened at the UN? President Trump and first lady Melania started up the escalator (with the press looking on) and as Melania stepped on the escalator, with her high heels, it abruptly stopped and she almost lost her balance. When Trump started to give his speech, the teleprompter stopped working. Then, when Trump was talking, without the teleprompter or a script, his volume was de-amplified. When the volume was fixed, his voice was drowned out by a Portuguese voice translation, not English. That’s inexplicable, or is it?
Trump laughed off the technical problems, then pointed out Europe’s decline because they consummated the Democrats’ deities of Open Borders, Diversity and the Green New Deal. Trump criticized Europe’s unmitigated immigration disaster and pointed out that unrestricted migrants/refugees constitute a cultural threat to Europe. And America and Europe must reinstate self-interest.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel opened her borders in 2015, saying, “We can do this” and let in over a million Middle Eastern and Muslim migrants. Angela Merkel insisted that Germany had the economic strength to cope with the influx of refugees and that there is no legal maximum limit on asylum-seeking migrants. Sound familiar? Merkel’s multiculturalism experiment utterly failed, but by then most of Europe followed her and let in millions of poor, uneducated, unskilled, unvetted and language-deficient migrants who did not assimilate into their countries.
Germany implemented the Green New Deal and shut down its last nuclear power plants in 2023 and approved plans to phase out coal power plants by 2038. Now, Bermuda, Denmark, Belgium, Ireland and Germany pay the highest household energy prices in the world.
Trump also pointed out that our military should not be a test bed for LGBTQ and DEI ideology, like it was under the Biden administration.
Zirpoli claims Trump’s ending seven wars isn’t true. I’ll list the wars Trump ended, got a peace deal or helped negotiate a ceasefire for: Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Thailand and Cambodia, India and Pakistan, Egypt and Ethiopia, Serbia and Kosovo and the Hamas-Israel war if it holds.
As for Trump being one of the worst presidents in history, compare Trump to Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. President Clinton allowed China to be a member of the World Trade Organization, which resulted in the loss of over 5 million American jobs. Obama, who saw the federal debt double under his administration, sanctioned his FBI’s use of the fake Steele dossier to approve the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act application and lie to the FISA court to spy on American citizens and their political opponents.
We watched four years of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris not knowing, and we still don’t know, who was running our country. They lied to us, saying white supremacy was the biggest threat, Biden is sharp as a tack and our borders are closed as they let in over 10 million illegal immigrants. Biden supported sanctuary cities, degraded and humiliated our military and diminished our place on the world stage, while Russia invaded Ukraine and Hamas attacked Israel.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released documents about the Dec. 9, 2016, meeting with President Obama, CIA Director John Brennan, National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and a few others, which showed they were concerned that the President’s Daily Brief (PDB) was prepared to tell Obama that Russia did not impact the election. So, the president requested Clapper to task the intelligence community leaders to create a new assessment that Russia was trying to help Trump win. They did.
Tulsi Gabbard’s documents also proved that during a Jan. 5, 2017, meeting, President Obama gave guidance to Sally Yates, Joe Biden, Susan Rice, James Comey, John Brennan and James Clapper to perpetuate the disproven Russia collusion hoax. They did.
For the first time in our history, the FBI (Comey) and our intelligence community (Brennan/Clapper) were weaponized by President Obama to participate in political deception to sabotage their opponent, using the Russian collusion hoax. So, who is really the worst president in our history?
