Baseball
North Harford 10, Harford Tech 4: The Hawks trailed 4-0 after four innings, but tied the game in the fifth before surging ahead. Colin Kight went 3-for-4, with a home run and four RBIs. Jedd Carl added a hit and two RBIs. Tucker Deal had three hits and an RBI.
Reservoir 2, Mt. Hebron 0: The Gators (13-1, 5-1 Summit Division) continued to roll behind a masterful pitching performance from Gavin Metrick and Matt Russell. Metrick struck out 16 hitters for the second time this season and allowed just two hits in 5 ⅔ innings. Matt Russell shut the door, not allowing a hit in the final 1 ⅓ innings as he struck out four. Tommy Futrell led the offense with two hits, two stolen bases and an RBI.
Long Reach 5, Centennial 3: The Lightning (11-4, 4-2 Sierra Division) trailed by one before scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Seth Rosenfeld continued to his recent dominance with three hits, including two home runs and a game-high four RBIs. Rosenfeld now has five home runs in his last four games. Noah Murdock earned the win with seven strikeouts and just one run allowed in six innings. For Centennial (8-4, 3-3 Sierra), Aiden Gauthier went 2-for-4, while Aariz Khan had two RBIs.
Marriotts Ridge 24, Oakland Mills 2: The Mustangs (8-8, 5-1 Summit) erupted for a season-high offensive performance. Aiden Hlavaty had two hits, including a home run and five RBIs to lead the offense. Nick Brown, Jason Devito, Rob Marsili and Malcolm Parson each had three RBIs as well.
River Hill 15, Wilde Lake 0: The Hawks (14-3, 6-0 Sierra Division) had a well-balanced effort with 17 hits. Anderson Dang led the way as he was 3-for-3 including two triples and three RBIs. CJ Grove also drove in three runs on two hits, including a triple. Jonathan Bloom added onto that with three hits, including two for for extra-bases and two RBIs. Five different pitchers combined for the shutout.
Glenelg Country 2, Mount Carmel 1: The Dragons picked up their first MIAA B Conference win of the season. Keegan Wojdan started and gave up just one run for Glenelg Country. Armen Kazanjian picked up the win as he threw five scoreless innings and surrendered just three hits.
Key 10, Concordia Prep 5: Angus Lunt-Woodward had a hit and three RBIs, aided by Sean Flynn (2-for-3, two RBIs) and Alex Neenan (2-for-3, two doubles, RBI). Wyatt Dowton struck out 10 batters and allowed four hits over 6 2/3 innings. Key improved to 7-3 in the MIAA C Conference and 9-8 overall.
Broadneck 11, Arundel 2: The Bruins split 10 runs over the fifth and sixth innings on five hits. Chase Hannon pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Bruins, allowing two runs and seven hits while striking out six batters.
North County 6, Crofton 3: The Knights broke open a tied game with five runs in the third, led by Colin Voss’ two-run double. Cash Stephenson also contributed two RBIs on a double while pitching five innings, striking out three, walking five and allowing five hits.
Softball
Fallston 5, Bel Air 4: Bel Air jumped ahead 4-0 after two innings, but the Cougars rallied for the win. Abby Marmen drove in every Fallston run, launching a three-run home run in the third and a two-run shot in the fifth.
Towson 10, Catonsville 5: Molly Mohr went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Olivia Felton doubled twice and also drove in a run to lead the Generals. For Catonsville, Lillie Ureno had two hits and an RBI to lead the offense. Abby Littrell also drove in a run.
Dulaney 8, Perry Hall 0: Madison Schupple struck out 11 Gators in a five-hit shutout. Dulaney had just four hits in the game, but took advantage of eight walks. Chloe Renaldo had a double and two RBIs.
Mt. Hebron 3, Reservoir 2: The Vikings (11-1, 5-1 Summit Division) swept the season series with the Gators. Becca Hutchinson had the go-ahead single in the seventh, while Abby Magdar earned the win, pitching seven innings and striking out 11. For Reservoir (9-4, 4-3 Summit), Abbie Frisvold had a home run and two RBIs.
Marriotts Ridge 15, Oakland Mills 2: The Mustangs (10-3, 5-1 Summit Division) won their third straight. Leah Kim led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Gianna Peluso, Morgan Miles, Ava Hammer, Katie and Reagan Pakulla each had two hits and at least one RBI. Sienna Williams, Elizabeth Lorah and Angelina Dorsey also had multiple hits and an RBI.
Severna Park 4, South River 1: Sophomore ace Quinlyn Bary threw a no-hitter against the Seahawks. She struck out eight, allowing six walks and one unearned run. Sophomore Jennifer Hong went 2-for-3 with a single, a double, an RBI and two stolen bases. Freshman Allie Moran hit doubled with an RBI while sophomore Andrea Rom also drove in a run.
Severn Run 17, Annapolis 2 (5 inn.): Junior pitcher Kasey Wyatt anchored the Wolves in the circle with four strikeouts in five innings, as well as at the plate with two hits and three RBIs. Sophomore Zy Bird paced the offense with five RBIs on two hits, including a triple, aided by senior Athena Dyer with three runs and an RBI on two hits and junior Destiny Ryer, who batted 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Arundel 14, Broadneck 5: Maddie Hamolia exploded for four hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs in the win. Lexie Hamolia and Aedyn Prince each drove in two runs, while Emily Felski, Caroline Horner, Layla Nevitt and Kylie Foster all had one RBI.
Girls lacrosse
Marriotts Ridge 19, Reservoir 8: The Mustangs (8-3-1, 2-1 Summit Division) built a commanding 13-3 lead at half. Both Katie Leader and Hayden Baumgartner scored a team-high six goals, as Baumgartner added two assists. Twelve of Marriotts Ridge’s goals were assisted led by three-assist performances from Sophia McGinnis and Izzy Angarita. For Reservoir (6-6, 3-2 Summit), Bailey Ko had a hat trick and two assists and scored her 200th career point.
River Hill 20, Hammond 3: The Hawks (7-5) earned a commanding senior night win and won their third game in a row. Gabby Bergstrom finished with a game-high seven points (three goals, four assists), while Charlotte Laraway scored four goals and added an assist. Fiona Devine (one goal, four assists) and Katelyn Sauritch (three goals, two assists) each had five points, while Olivia Creighton netted a hat trick.
Howard 20, Long Reach 4: The Lions (8-2, 3-1 Sierra Division) scored a season-high in goals. Brynn Bartlett scored a team-high four goals and also dished out four assists. Ayden Miller, Courtney Brooks and Avery Graham each had hat tricks as Miller and Brooks also added an assist. Nine different Howard players scored as Emma Antill had seven saves.
Centennial 18, Oakland Mills 0: The Eagles (8-2) scored over 15 goals for the third time this season. Both Caroline Cudzilo and Claire Whipkey scored four goals and added two assists, while Darcy Biederman had a hat trick. Nine different Centennial players scored goals in the win.
Marriotts Ridge 22, Reservoir 4: The Mustangs (5-5, 2–1 Summit Division) had a dominant division win. Zach Skinner scored a game-high five goals, while both Josh Lindquist and Cooper Ellis each scored four times. Mason Machiran and Ellis O’Brien each had hat tricks. For Reservoir (6-4, 4-2 Summit), Ben Egan scored twice.
Loch Raven 14, Western Tech 7: The Raiders got five goals from Callie French and a team-high seven points from Sarah Watkeys (4 goals, 3 assists). Kate Chantelau scored two goals, won four draws and collected eight ground balls. Chlote Cincotta also scored twice and caused two turnovers. Lilah Kniffin had four ground balls.
North Harford 18, Patterson Mill 10: In the loss, the Huskies got two goals each from Emily Tapley, Gabby Eraso, Rylie Madsen and Maddie Tunney. Jaya Ramnhart made 12 saves.
St. Mary’s 5, Roland Park 3: The Saints clipped their two-game slide and secured a spot in the IAAM A Conference playoffs for the first time in three seasons. Caroline Ewing scored a hat trick while Sydney DeMaio tallied two goals and two assists. Addy Drain made seven saves in goal.
Boys lacrosse
Spalding 17, John Carroll 7: Gordie Bennett and Joey Matassa (two assists) each netted a hat trick for the Cavaliers (15-1, 7-1 MIAA A Conference). Grady Swidersky added two goals and two assists. Brady Mollot registered a goal and three assists while Diego Garza had a goal and two assists. Ryan Criswell went 16-for-19 on faceoffs.
Marriotts Ridge 22, Reservoir 4: The Mustangs (5-5, 2–1 Summit Division) had a dominant division win. Zach Skinner scored a game-high five goals, while both Josh Lindquist and Cooper Ellis each scored four times. Mason Machiran and Ellis O’Brien each had hat tricks. For Reservoir (6-4, 4-2 Summit), Ben Egan scored twice.
Boys tennis
Westminster 3, Liberty 2: The Carroll County title came down to a pair of three-set doubles matches, both won by the Owls (12-1, 12-0) clinching the outright county championship. Luke DiDio and Aidan Cignatta won a marathon second doubles match, 3-6, 6-3, 11-9. Meanwhile, Luke Schoberg and Nishal Patel won third doubles, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 10-6. They also won first doubles from Jarom Hawes and Michael Pohuski, 6-2, 6-3. Liberty took both singles matches with Arjun Mistry winning first singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Louis Major winning the second line in three sets.
Marriotts Ridge 4, Oakland Mills 1: Daniel Lee won 8-0 at No. 1 singles for the Mustangs. The doubles pairings of Peniel Kim and Larry Shi, Jerry Han and Caleb Choi, Yash Kumar and Anuj Nadkarni all won their matches. Albert Tustin won at No. 2 singles for Oakland Mills.
Howard 5, Hammond 0: Daniel Au and Ian Rhees had commanding 8-0 and 8-2 wins, respectively at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. The doubles pairings of Hubert Yu and Nathan Gong, Ryan Zhou and Jack Hollenbeck as well as Ethan Yip and Krish Shroff each won their matches.
Girls tennis
Marriotts Ridge 5, Oakland Mills 0: Christina Ottman and Maria Ottman won 8-3 and 8-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. The doubles pairings of Eunice Lee and Elaine Choi, Aditi Gandhe and Kaylee Sinn, and Alison Chan and Mahika Juneja each won.
Howard 4, Hammond 1: Pamela Shao won 8-2 at No. 2 singles for the Lions. Howard’s doubles pairings of Leah Sellers and Medha Gaddam, Charlotte Harvey and Madeline Williams and Eve Tang and Blu Brown Carter didn’t surrender a game. For Hammond, Alison Bent won 8-2 at No. 1 singles.
Liberty 5, Westminster 0: The Lions (13-0, 12-0) finished an undefeated conference run by sweeping the Owls. Danielle Ponomarev earned a 6-2, 6-2 first singles win, while Abby Zentner won second singles, 6-0, 6-2. Payton Oakley and Amelia Mustico won first doubles and Mallory Stevenson and Leah Tombs won the second match. Aubrey Anderson and Lilli Kashima closed the match with a three-set third doubles win.
