The Braves and Dodgers need to bounce back after dropping Game 1.
The American League isn’t in action today, but there’s plenty going on in the senior circuit. Both National League Division Series are playing their second games this afternoon, with the Milwaukee Brewers hosting the Atlanta Braves at 5:07 ET and the San Francisco Giants continuing their hyped matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers at 9:07 ET.
Braves at Brewers, 5:07 ET, TBS
Rowdy Tellez made the Milwaukee fans…well, rowdy…with a two-run home run in Game 1 that provided the Brew Crew with all the scoring they needed for a 2-1 victory over the Braves. Corbin Burnes, Adrian Houser and Josh Hader took it from there, teaming up to allow only a Joc Pederson home run among four hits.
The Brewers now send the other of their co-aces, Brandon Woodruff (9-10, 2.56), to the mound to try to take a 2-0 series lead and put Atlanta in a hole. The Braves, trying to avoid such a quandary, will counter with Max Fried, who went 14-7 with a 3.04 ERA during the regular season.
Dodgers at Giants, 9:07 ET, TBS
The first matchup of two teams with 213 wins between them went San Fran’s way, as Buster Posey cranked a two-run shot and Brandon Crawford and Kris Bryant hit solo homers in a 4-0 win. Logan Webb was superb, going 7.2 shutout innings against the vaunted Dodger lineup while allowing five hits and striking out 10.
The Giants will go for a 2-0 lead, and guess who gets the ball? It’s Kevin Gausman! Remember him? He pitched a few years here, ate a bunch of doughnuts, had some good playoff moments? Anyway, he’s really good now, having gone 14-6 with a 2.81 ERA (boy, that’s crazy to see) in the regular season. But his counterpart, Julio Urias (20-3, 2.96), is good, too, so this should be a dandy.
