Aberdeen scored a come-from-behind win in extra innings, while both Chesapeake and Delmarva were rained out.
Triple-A: Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Marlins) 6, Norfolk Tides 4
The Norfolk bullpen ruined the best game of Samuel Basallo’s minor league career as Jacksonville scored four runs in the 8th to steal a win from the Tides.
Basallo gave Norfolk an early lead thanks to a three-run HR in the bottom of the 1st. After Dylan Beavers and Coby Mayo started the inning with back-to-back walks, Basallo blasted a hanging changeup over the right field fence for his fifth homer of the season.

The Orioles’ top prospect, who was back playing catcher for the first time all season, didn’t stop with the fireworks there. His second homer of the night—although only a solo shot—was more impressive, as he launched a low fastball 420 feet over the right field fence to give the Tides a 4-0 lead. The 20-year-old barely missed a home run hat trick when he hit a 400-foot double off the right-center fence. Basallo finished 3-4 with 4 RBIs, 10 TB and 2 R and now has a .899 OPS on the season.

Basallo’s heroics were not enough for a Tides win thanks to a meltdown from Grant Wolfram in the 8th. With Norfolk up 4-1. Wolfram gave up a double to Andrew Pintar, and then allowed back-to-back singles that cut the lead to 4-2. Troy Johnston then launched the second double of the inning to add another run for the Jumbo Shrimp and put the tying run on third.
With two outs, Wolfram walked Maximo Acosta to load the bases, forcing manager Tim Federowicz to pull him and turn to Corbin Martin. The 29-year-old couldn’t clean up Wolfram’s mess, though, immediately giving up a single to Jack Winkler as Jacksonville took a 5-4 lead.
The Jumbo Shrimp scored another run in the top of the 9th, meaning the Tides would need two in the bottom of the inning to force extras. Instead, Jacksonville closer Seth Martinez struck out the side to seal the win for the Jumbo Shrimp.

High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds 7, Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees) 6 (F/10)
The IronBirds scored the tying run in the top of the 9th and the winning run in the 10th as they rallied back to win the series opener against the Renegades.
Aberdeen started off strong in the top of the 1st, with Enrique Bradfield Jr. working a lead-off walk and then moving to second on a Griff O’Ferrall single. After Bradfield and O’Ferrall executed a double steal, Ethan Anderson grounded out to second to score EBJ and give the IronBirds a 1-0 lead.
The Shorebirds would have to make their first comeback after the Renegades put up a four-spot in the bottom of the 1st to take a 4-1 lead. The IronBirds got their first run back on another RBI groundout in the 2nd. Then in the 3rd, they strung together five singles to add on three runs and take a 5-4 lead.
Hudson Valley retook the lead in the 4th thanks to a sac fly and an RBI groundout. This set the stage for the Aberdeen comeback in the 9th. With one out, Anderson De Los Santos laced a double into right field to put the tying run in scoring position. Ryan Stafford wasted no time bringing him home, doubling home De Los Santos on the third pitch he saw to tie the game at 6-6.
Bradfield and O’Ferrall couldn’t bring home Stafford to take the lead in the 9th and the game headed to extra innings. After Vance Honeycutt and Anderson failed to drive home the Manfred Man, Aron Estrada singled up the middle to score O’Ferrall and give Aberdeen the lead. Dominic Freeberger took over for the save in the 10th and registered three Ks to seal the Aberdeen W.
