Orioles affiliates won both games that were played in a rain-abbreviated slate down on the farm.
Triple-A: Norfolk Tides at St. Paul Saints (Twins) – Postponed/Rain
This game will be made up on Saturday as part of a double-header
Double-A: Chesapeake Baysox 6, Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) 4 – F/11
This was a game of sporadic offense. The Senators scored all four of their runs in the first two innings. The Baysox scored four times in the sixth inning, and then not again until the 11th frame.
Hudson Haskin led the offense with a 3-for-5 performance that included a grand slam and a stolen base. Enrique Bradfield went 1-for-5 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and three strikeouts. Creed Willems went 1-for-3 with three walks but got thrown out on the bases twice (caught stealing and picked off).
Trace Bright tossed the first four innings of the game for Chesapeake, allowing those four runs on three hits, four walks and two strikeouts. But the bullpen was dominant for the final seven innings of the game. Preston Johnson, Walter Pennington, Daniel Lloyd, and Houston Roth combined to allow just four hits and seven walks while striking out eight in those seven frames.
High-A: Aberdeen IronBirds vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks (Nationals) – Postponed/Rain
Soggy conditions pushed this game to Saturday, where it will be part of a double header.
Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 14, Salem Red Sox 4
The Shorebirds loaded up the box score with 14 runs on 16 hits, four walks, and 10 strikeouts. Yasmil Bucce went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles, two runs, and three RBI. Cole Urman had a double, a triple, and four RBI. Alfredo Velásquez collected three hits and a stolen base. Raylin Ramos went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, two RBI, and a walk. Luis Guevara tripled and scored twice.
On the mound, Delmarva was forced to deploy their pitchers in a backwards manner after starter Sebastian Gongora recorded just one out. Jared Beck and Deivy Cruz combined for 3.2 scoreless innings to follow. And then it was left to Evan Yates to toss the final five innings. The 22-year-old righty allowed four runs on three hits, a walk, four strikeouts, and two home runs to earn the save.
