A teacher accused one of his students of using his credit card to purchase more than $1,000 worth of virtual items on his video game console.
Stuart Simpson, an e-sports teacher, submitted a complaint to police on Nov. 13 accusing one of his students of using his card for more than $1,000 in purchases, according to KAIT.
Simpson’s complaint explained that he input his credit card information into one of his student’s PlayStation consoles after learning the student was unable to purchase a PlayStation Plus subscription, which would give the student access to a variety of video games.
Sometime after Simpson purchased the subscription for the student, he attempted to remove his credit card information from the student’s device through the PlayStation website, the complaint said.
When reviewing the charges on his account, Simpson claimed there were $1,056 in charges from the student’s PlayStation.
Although Simpson was able to call his credit card company and have the charges revoked, he still submitted an official complaint to police, which was sent to the juvenile department on Nov. 14.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the items purchased or the next steps.
