Trevor Rogers is back and ready to take on the Rays…I hope
Tonight is the third of four games against the Rays, and with a win the Orioles can secure at least a series split. Trevor Rogers has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to make the start, and it seems like he might be here for a while. With Cade Povich on the injured list, this is Rogers’s chance.
Taj Bradley will start for the Rays, coming off two rough starts against the Marlins and Mets. Here’s hoping that trend continues, although he has had plenty of good starts mixed in with his clunkers this year.
Adley Rutschman is on the bench today in favor of Gary Sánchez. I don’t know why, although at least Sánchez has shown some pop since returning from the injured list. Maybe he and Rogers formed an unbreakable bond in Norfolk while Sánchez was rehabbing.
Aside from the missing Rutschman, the only thing that could make this lineup stronger is Ramón Urías over Coby Mayo. But Mayo has been coming around lately, and I like to see him getting chances.
