The Duke freshman still appears to be the favorite to be the #1 overall pick
SB Nation basketball editor Ricky O’Donnell published his latest 2025 NBA mock draft yesterday and had the Wizards selecting Duke freshman Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick. The Wizards are currently 6-41 with a 4.5 game “lead” over the Utah Jazz for the worst record in the NBA. If they finish with the worst record, the worst they could fall to in the draft is the fifth pick.
While it would certainly be nice to see them rewarded for a historically bad season, there is still a chance of them falling somewhere in the Top 5. With that in mind, here’s a look at who O’Donnell currently projects in the Top 10, just to show a few more candidates.
1.) Washington Wizards – Cooper Flagg, F, Duke
2.) Utah Jazz – Dylan Harper, G, Rutgers
3.) New Orleans Pelicans – V.J. Edgecombe, G, Baylor
4.) Charlotte Hornets – Ace Bailey, F, Rutgers
5.) Brooklyn Nets – Khaman Maluach, C, Duke
6.) Toronto Raptors – Kasparas Jakucionis, G, Illinois
7.) Portland Trail Blazers – Asa Newell, F, Georgia
8.) Oklahoma City Thunder (via 76ers) – Jeremiah Fears, G, Oklahoma
9.) Chicago Bulls – Collin Murray-Boyles, F/C, South Carolina
10.) San Antonio Spurs – Tre Johnson, G, Texas
College basketball is roughly about halfway through conference play so things are about to heat up as teams make their final push to get into the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, several of these players are on bubble teams or unlikely to make it into the tournament so now may be your last best chance to see them in action.
