Here is the schedule for today. And we also give you a refresher on the 3×3 game based on FIBA’s rules.

BONJOUR À TOUS !

Here are yesterday’s recaps, today’s games, as well as an overview of 3×3 basketball which starts aujourd’hui !

Women’s Basketball Recaps for July 29

  • Group B: Nigeria 75, Australia 62
  • Group C: Germany 83, Belgium 69
  • Group B: France 75, Canada 54
  • Group C: United States 102, Japan 76

Recaps for the first three games from Monday are here. If you want to read more on Team USA’s win over Japan (which I didn’t recap), click here for Noa Dalzell’s recap on SB Nation’s national site.

Today’s Men’s Basketball Games for July 30

Times are in Eastern. Local time is in the Central Europan Time Zone, which is six hours ahead.

  • Group A: Spain vs. Greece at 5 a.m. ET
  • Group A: Canada vs. Australia at 7:30 a.m. ET
  • Group B: France vs. Japan at 11:15 a.m. ET
  • Group B: Germany vs. Brazil at 3 p.m. ET

3×3 basketball starts today!

Basketball isn’t just 5-on-5. It’s also done 3×3. And this competition starts today!

Rules

The game is done a bit differently, but here are the general rules:

  • Games are played to 21. A 2-point shot in the 5-on-5 game is 1 point. A 3-point shot in the 5-on-5 game is 2. Free throws are still one point.
  • Teams must win by 2 to win the game.
  • Games are played half court.
  • The shot clock, generally speaking, is 12 seconds.
  • These are the same rules in men’s 3×3, women’s 3×3, and mixed 3×3 (which is men and women together, but mixed 3×3 was never an Olympic and it isn’t a FIBA event anymore).

The result is a fast-paced game. And with fewer players on the court, everyone tends to be a decent long range shooting threat.

Which teams are in men’s 3×3 basketball?

  • China (Chine)
  • France
  • Latvia (Lettonie)
  • Lithuania (Lituanie)
  • Netherlands (Pays-Bas)
  • Poland (Pologne)
  • Serbia (Serbie)
  • United States (États-Unis)

Which teams are in 3×3 women’s basketball?

  • Australia (Australie)
  • Azerbaijan (Azerbaïdjan)
  • Canada
  • China (Chine)
  • France
  • Germany (Allemagne)
  • Spain (Espagne)
  • United States (États-Unis)

Who is on the USA Basketball men’s 3×3 team?

  • Canyon Berry, most recently played for the Iowa Wolves in the NBA G League
  • Jimmer Fredette, most recently played for the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese CBA
  • Kareem Maddox, never played professionally in 5-on-5, played college basketball at Princeton
  • Dylan Travis, played college basketball at Florida Southern

Who is on the USA Basketball women’s 3×3 team?

  • Cierra Burdick, last played for Valencia (Spanish Liga Femenina)
  • Dearica Hamby, Los Angeles Sparks
  • Rhyne Howard, Atlanta Dream
  • Hailey Van Lith, TCU Horned Frogs (NCAA Division I)

Where is the 3×3 being played at?

Games are played outside at the Place de la Concorde.

Unlike 5-on-5, 3×3 is generally played outside because of its roots in streetball, like Rucker Park in Manhattan among other places. Recent 3X3 World Cups have been played outside in downtown Amsterdam, Netherlands at the Museumplein in 2019; Antwerp, Belgium at the Groenplaats in 2022; and Vienna, Austria at the Rathausplatz.

Okay, what is the 3×3 schedule for today?

Unlike 5×5 basketball, men’s and women’s teams are playing on the same days. So here is the schedule in Eastern Time.

  • 11:30 a.m.: United States vs. Germany women
  • 12 p.m.: Australia vs. Canada women
  • 12:35 p.m.: Latvia vs. Lithuania men
  • 1:05 p.m.: China vs. Netherlands men
  • 3 p.m.: Spain vs. Azerbaijan women
  • 3:30 p.m.: France vs. China women
  • 4:05 p.m.: France vs. Poland men
  • 4:35 p.m.: United States vs. Serbia men

Enjoy the games everyone!
