Game Notes
The Mystics are entering a developmental phase after losing several veteran contributors in the offseason, most notably with Ariel Atkins going to the Chicago Sky and Karlie Samuelson going to the Minnesota Lynx.
Without Edwards and Amoore, look for rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen to step into larger roles early. This game is a chance for Washington to test its young core and establish early identity under new leadership with Sydney Johnson as head coach.
The Fever, led by second-year point guard Caitlin Clark, have upgraded their frontcourt with veterans DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard. Indiana will be in the playoff mix this season, and their new coaching staff, led by Stephanie White will be watching closely to see how the new pieces fit around Clark and Aliyah Boston.
