The Washington Wizards’ future could change a lot later tonight.
The 2025 NBA Draft Lottery is set to take place on Monday, May 12, at 7:00 PM ET in Chicago. Fans can watch the event live on ESPN or stream it via ESPN+. We will have a Playback stream so you can watch our live reactions to it. That will be in a separate post.
Lottery Odds and Team Chances
The Utah Jazz (17–65), Washington Wizards (18–64), and Charlotte Hornets (19–63) each hold a 14.0 percent chance of securing the No. 1 overall pick. So even though the Wizards were the second worst team in the NBA in the 2024-25 season, they still will have the same odds of getting the top pick as the Jazz who “beat” them by one game.
Following closely are the New Orleans Pelicans with a 12.5 percent chance, the Philadelphia 76ers at 10.5 percent and the Brooklyn Nets at 9.0 percent.
The lottery determines the top four picks through a randomized drawing of ping-pong balls, with the remaining positions assigned based on team records. The lottery
Top Prospects
Duke forward Cooper Flagg is considered the number 1 pick in the draft. Averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, Flagg has drawn comparisons to Kevin Durant for his scoring prowess and versatility.
Other top prospects include Rutgers’ dynamic duo, Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey, Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe, and Texas’ Tre Johnson, all projected to be high lottery selections.
The lottery results will set the stage for the 2025 NBA Draft, scheduled for June 25 at the Barclays Center in New York City.
