The Wizards reportedly want to pick former Rutgers guard Dylan Harper or former Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears.
The Washington Wizards have tried to move up from their current 2025 NBA Draft positions at No. 6 and No. 18, according to Grant Afseth of RG.
It’s clear why the Wizards would want to move up in the 2025 NBA Draft. Washington was a team that quite frankly needed a pick in the Top 3. With former Duke forward Cooper Flagg almost definitely going No. 1 to the Dallas Mavericks, the Wizards are apparently eyeing a pick closer to the top of the draft order anyway, most likely a guard like former Rutgers guard Dylan Harper or former Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears. Here is the quote from Afseth’s piece:
Holding picks No. 6 and 18 in the first round, the Wizards have explored trade-up scenarios in hopes of securing one of the top backcourt prospects, league sources told RG. Washington has made multiple offers to teams in the top five in an effort to land either Dylan Harper or Jeremiah Fears, even being willing to part with surprising names to move up to No. 2 overall. Thus far, those attempts have been rebuffed.
Again, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the Wizards are looking to move up — and that they may be willing to give up some of their better veteran or even younger players to do so. Other teams probably are willing to do the same. However, Washington was one of the worst teams in the NBA season, and it’s going to be a bit more difficult to move up in this year’s draft under the circumstances.
