Washington is one game ahead of the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls and have no room for tiebreakers.
The Washington Wizards lost 146-143 in overtime to the San Antonio Spurs last night. The loss drops them to 27-34 in the 2020-21 NBA season but they remain the 10th seed of the Eastern Conference, one game ahead of the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls.
Washington cannot be tied in the standings with the Raptors and Bulls in order to earn the 10th seed in the playoffs, and a berth in this year’s play-in round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs. They lost the tiebreakers to both teams already.
The eight-game win streak Washington had over the past couple weeks has been huge keeping Washington’s already-slim playoff chances alive. It is the longest they had since Dec. 6 to Dec. 22, 2001 when Washington won a franchise-record nine games in a row. Washington currently has the 17th hardest schedule remaining, while the Raptors and Bulls have the second and fourth hardest schedules remaining, respectively.
Since the Wizards have made the most out of the last month of play (which included a schedule of mostly poorly-performing teams), do you think they can keep this up for the rest of the season? Let us know in the comments below!
