NHL Predictions
Washington Capitals vs Florida Panthers
2024-25 Season Series: Capitals 3-0 Panthers
U.S. TV: Scripps Florida; Monumental Sports Network; ESPN+
Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EDT)
We open up NHL predictions with our featured game between the Capitals and Panthers. Logan Thompson is the expected starter for Washington, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Capitals did win in their last time on ice. However, they are 4-5-1 in the previous 10 games entering this matchup. Tom Wilson leads the way in goals (9) and points (16), but Dylan Strome is tops in assists with 10.
Sergei Bobrovsky is the projected starter for Florida, which is 5-4-1 in the last 10 games. Injuries have taken a toll on the Panthers’ lineup, but they still put out a dangerous lineup. Florida has struggled to score this season, averaging 2.63 goals per game. That’s tied for 27th in the league so far this season. Brad Marchand is first in goals (11), assists (7), and points (18) for Florida.
Both teams know how to keep the puck out of the net. However, the home team skates away with the victory.
Prediction: Panthers win 3-2.
Dallas Stars vs Montreal Canadiens
2024-25 Season Series: Stars 1-1 Canadiens
U.S. TV: Victory+; ESPN+
Canada TV: TSN2; RDS
Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)
We have the Dallas Stars visiting the Montreal Canadiens in the second game of this set of NHL predictions. Dallas is expected to go with Jake Oettinger in goal for this game. The Stars are 7-1-2 in the last 10 games, including victories in their last three games. Mikko Rantanen is tops in assists (14) and points (23), while Wyatt Johnston is leading in goals with 10.
Jakub Dobes is the probable starter for the Canadiens, who 6-2-2 in the last 10 games. However, the Habs did lose in overtime to the New Jersey Devils last time out. Dobes is off to a great start in net, with a 6-0-1 record and 2.25 goals-against-average. Nick Suzuki managed to play despite being dinged up, and he leads the club in assists (16) and points (20) so far this campaign.
This should be a good one, but Montreal gets back on track with the victory.
Prediction: Canadiens win 4-3.
Winnipeg Jets vs Seattle Kraken
Head-to-Head: Jets 0-1 Kraken
U.S. TV: KHN; KONG; ESPN+
Canada TV: TSN3
Time: 10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)
Our last game of NHL predictions has the Winnipeg Jets taking on the Seattle Kraken. Connor Hellebuyck is the likely starter for the Jets, who are 5-5 in the last 10 games. Winnipeg did get a 5-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. The Jets give up only 2.63 goals per game, which is sixth-best in the league. Mark Scheifele is tied for first with Kyle Connor in goals with nine.
Philipp Grubauer is the expected starter for the Kraken, who are 4-3-3 in the last 10 games. Seattle has dropped its last two games entering this matchup. The Kraken have struggled to score, with only an average of 2.5 goals scored per game. Jordan Eberle and Jaden Schwartz each have five goals, six assists, and 11 points so far this season.
Both teams can keep the puck out of the net. However, Winnipeg gets the win due to having more offensive power.
Prediction: Jets win 4-2.
Prop Bets of the Night
We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. Let’s go back to our featured game for our preferred prop bets. The over/under for Capitals and Panthers is 5.5, and we like the under in this game.
As for individual props, go with Alex Ovechkin to get any time goal for Washington. On the Florida side of things, go with Anton Lundell to get an assist.
