A look at a bunch of goals from a bunch of guys
3 – Number of times since 2005-06 that the Capitals have had three players with at least two goals in a single game, including last night’s blowout of the Bruins.
The Caps’ 8-1 win over Boston featured a trio of two-goal games from Lars Eller, T.J. Oshie and Conor Sheary – making it the first of the three games to not include Alex Ovechkin as a two-goal scorer. The captain picked up a pair in the team’s 6-3 defeat of Tampa back on March 30, 2019, joining Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom. He also notched a hat trick (rounding out a 50-goal campaign) when the Caps downed these same Bruins 10-2 on March 3, 2008.
Scoring eight goals usually requires contributions from throughout the lineup, and even those without a two-goal game to their name last night still pitched in:
All 12 of Washington’s forwards recorded a point against Boston. It marks the fifth game in franchise history in which the Capitals had every forward record a point and the first since Jan. 19, 2017 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
