Anthony Beauvillier Signed by the Washington Capitals

Beauvillier has played for the New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals over his nine-year NHL career. Last season, Beauvillier registered 15 goals and 10 assists for 25 points in stints with the Penguins and Capitals. He logged an average ice time of 12 minutes, 52 seconds per game. The Sorel-Tracy, Quebec native had a Corsi for of 52.5 and a relative Corsi of 3.1.

Beauvillier has scored 131 goals and dished out 140 assists for 271 points in 631 career games. The Islanders originally drafted him in the first round, 28th overall of the 2015 NHL Draft. He had a standout major junior career with a pair of 40-plus goal seasons with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL.

The 28-year-old has also represented his native Canada at numerous levels in international play. He was recently part of the 2016 and 2018 Canadian squads at the IIHF World Championships.

What It Means

Beauvillier has dealt with a number of injuries in recent seasons. However, he did turn things around after getting sent to the Capitals. The veteran forward was a solid contributor with two goals and three assists for five points in 18 games with Washington.

However, he did a lot of the little things to help his new team. The stint on the Capitals has showcased that Beauvillier can still be a solid contributor at the NHL level. He’s been able to post double-digit goal seasons for most of his career in the NHL. This deal could be a good one for a team looking for forward depth.
