Class of 2026 Maxandre Calixte has all the physical tools to play the brand of positionless basketball that has revolutionized the game at the highest level.
The 6-foot-6 forward played for team Brookwood Lu Dort elite, averaging 5.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. But what he truly hangs his hat on is his energy and effort on the floor.
“I always like to support my team, getting all the rebounds,” Calixte said. “If I have to get punched to get the possession, I’ll do it. I’m a supporter for the team.”
In a generation filled with people who want to make plays with the ball in their hand, Calixte sees himself as more of a spot-up scorer.
“I’m more of a catch and shoot (player),” he said. “Even though I don’t look like a catch-and-shoot guy, I really love to catch and shoot. I also always wanted it to be a 2-3 position, but obviously, I could play the four or five. But, yeah, I’m more of a step away shooter or catch and shooter. Yeah, that’s pretty much it. I’m a shooter.”
His play this summer has earned him offers from Buffalo and Arizona State with interest from Minnesota and San Francisco.
Here is how he broke down his recruiting so far:
Arizona State:
“When I received that offer, I was playing for Iowa. I just received the news, so no coach texted me or anything. I just received the news that they wanted to offer me but that’s about it.”
Minnesota:
“The coach has been texting me for a while. Until we stopped talking, but everything was fine, we have a good relationship.”
Buffalo:
“I’m going to be like comfortable if I go there, but that’s pretty much it. We had a Zoom call about, like, the facility, the gym, etc, and it’s pretty cool, actually.”
Calixte hopes to begin his visits after acquiring more offers, he plans on making a commitment after completing his last season of high school.
His main priority is getting to know his teammates.
“I would say the chemistry, or like the vibe,” Calixte told ZAGSBLOG. “Also, the teammates. I want to see how they are, how they act. Are they selfish? I just want to feel at home. I don’t mind if it’s like 300 km away from my home. I just want to feel at home. Obviously, l’m going to bring my mom if it’s to visit and we are going to talk from there.”
Maxandre Calixte is a standout wing in the 2026 recruiting class. His favorite NBA player is Damian Lillard, his favorite hobby outside of basketball is playing video games, and his favorite artist is Lil Uzi.
