Class of 2026 guard Ashton Meeks comes from a big basketball family, and he’s looking to continue the tradition of basketball at the college level with toughness, energy, and most importantly, defense.
“Overall, I’m a killer,” Meeks said about his game. “When it comes to saying someone could stay in front of me, I take that personally. I don’t feel like anyone can stay in front of me. I don’t feel like anyone can guard me. When it comes to defense, you know, I’ll just lock in. Keep my man in front of me, I don’t gamble, and do what I can do.”
Meeks hooped for Team Loaded at the Adidas 3SSB Circuit this summer. He averaged 16.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
“I can score all three levels,” Meeks said. “Just playing with pace, knowing where I want to be, knowing where I want to get. And it’s just the ability to get there with pace and patience, just shoot my same shot every time.”
Meeks’ brother, Earl Timberlake, starred at Bryant and is an NBA unrestricted free agent after going undrafted in 2025. Both his parents, Edward Meeks and Ashley Bradley, played basketball as well. Edward played football and basketball at North Carolina A&T.
“We all can put the ball in the hoop, and we all defend at a high level,” Meeks said. “So whenever we stop on the court, we represent our family.”
The 6-foot guard has collected offers from Boston College, Bowling Green, Charleston, Florida A&M, George Washington, James Madison, Mississippi State, Old Dominion, Oklahoma State and Saint Louis, San Francisco and Temple. He hasn’t taken any visits as of now, but he’ll be looking to take some soon with the summer season over.
Here’s what Meeks had to say about some of these programs:
Mississippi State:: “I’ve talked to the coaches. They got a great point guard that’s coming back this year, Josh Hubbard, from last year. Unfortunately, you know they lost, byt they showed out very well. They opened a lot of eyes I just want to make an impact on the game.”
Oklahoma State: “Really fast. That’s the style I like to play, I mean, if we can’t get out of transition, it’s just beat your man. But if you can kick ahead or get in transition, that’s what we like to do.”
Saint Louis: “Especially in that conference, they shoot a lot of threes. They just picked up a guard that can shoot a lot of threes, so they are really just run and gun team. And like I said before, if they can’t get a three or lay up in transition, they just, you know, run an NBA action. And you know, they’re just trying to trust their point guard to make a play.”
West Virginia: “They’re a set-heavy team. I wouldn’t say set heavy, but they run a lot of sets and they do a lot of actions. It’s just a lot of counters to things they have. I watch them a lot, too.”
Meeks said he hopes to have his list of schools cut down before the high school season with an ideal commitment target around the winter. The guard plays high school ball at DeMatha Catholic (MD). Meeks is the No. 25 combo guard in the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports, giving him three-star status. His favorite NBA player is Jalen Brunson, and he enjoys cooking his own meals.
