NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Buoyed by a slick, crafty, and hard attacking arsenal, Albany City Rocks Class of 2028 guard Michai White is tracking as one of the top scoring guards in the country.
Possessing an ahead of his time feel for picking his spots effectively, and showing a consistent outside shot with range, White is coming off a noteworthy performance at Peach Jam.
White averaged 14 points and 3.2 boards while playing up with 17U.
The 6-foot-1, 165-pound point guard”s powerful handle and proficiency in creating space was evident during a 24-point performance, on the strength of a smoking 9-for-12 from the field, during a victory over Arizona Unity.
Syracuse and Villanova are currently expressing interest in White. The rising sophomore holds offers from the likes of Auburn, Louisville, San Diego, Alcorn State, Rider and Hampton.
The New Jersey native will prolong his career at Brewster Academy (NH), a traditional Prep superpower which has churned out a torrent of high major talent over the years.
“This year my outlook (at Brewster) is to really get better day in and day out, under a great coach in Coach (Jason) Smith who will continue to develop me,” White said.
“I anticipate my role as a lead guard who scores, facilitates, and defends while leading my team.
“Brewster features a formidable backcourt with White and Antonio Pemberton, who has emerged into a national stock riser this summer.
Pemberton, a 2027 recruit who showed flashes as a sophomore, authored several scoring eruptions during the July live period. He turned in several 30+ point games in Rock Hill, South Carolina as well as the more recent Earn Your Stripes Invitational in California.
Playing for a City Rocks program featuring several highly lauded recruits, White was able to manufacture points in a variety of ways.
He showed positional uniqueness with his rebounding and an ability to create looks for the pieces surrounding him.
“What enabled me to have the performance I had at Peach Jam was the work I put in day in and day out ,” said White.
“Just working on my craft and sharpening my skills along with the trust from my coaches at City Rocks. I feel I was able to show my ability to score and get downhill while also running a team and getting guys involved.”
