Five-star Prolific Prep (CA) guard Caleb Holt visited Kentucky for “Big Blue Madness” this past weekend.
“It was a great visit, the fan atmosphere was second to none,” Desman Holt, Caleb’s father, told ZAGSBLOG.com. “Kentucky’s message was they would be looking for Caleb to come in and fill the void from Otega’s departure as a senior.”
Otega Oweh, a 6-foot-5 senior, was named the SEC Preseason Player of the Year on Monday.
As for Holt, the 6-5 guard is ranked the No. 1 shooting guard in the Class of 2026, per 247Sports.com.
He previously visited Providence, Kentucky, Alabama and Arkansas.
He visited Kentucky along with five-star guard Jordan Smith Jr. and four-star big man Josh Irving.
As a sophomore, Holt averaged 20.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game and was named the Alabama Mr. Basketball, the Class 6A Player of the Year, the Gatorade and MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year and ASWA Super All-State. Holt led Buckhorn (Ala.) to a second state title and was named MVP of the state tournament.
“[He’s a] consummate winner and two-way impact [player],” Prolific Prep coach Ryan Bernardi said. “Caleb will go down as one of the most accomplished high school players in the recent history.”
