Deron Rippey Jr., the consensus No. 1 point guard in the Class of 2026, visited Duke this week and will next trip to Tennessee beginning Saturday.
As for the Duke visit, Deron Rippey Sr. told ZAGSBLOG:
“They want Ron Ron to come in and bring his defense, IQ and skillset to Duke and be a part of the Brotherhood and help them win. ‘We want you here to play and make an impact!”
In a recent interview with ZAGSBLOG, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard out of Blair Academy (NJ) and the New Heights AAU said of Duke: “Duke obviously loves my game. They told me that they never recruited a point guard that had the skillset of mine, so I’m going down there to see what they have in store for me. They obviously have a lot of NBA players that are in the league, so they’re kind of like a factory [and] obviously a Blue Blood.”
As for Tennessee, he added: “Their message is also kind of said the same thing. With Nate Ament, what they did for him, they can also do for me in terms of branding and come in and have that role right away.”
Rippey’s last visit is slated for N.C. State next month.
“Very similar,” he said. “I’ve known [GM] Andrew Slater for a while. They want me to come in and be the guy. Everything is set up to be built around me if I were to commit there.”
Rippey’s list of nine schools also includes Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Syracuse, Miami and Texas.
