Five-star point guard Boogie Fland has committed to Arkansas, his high school coach told ZAGSBLOG.
“Boogie is an extremely talented player and a great kid,” Archbishop Stepinac (N.Y.) coach Pat Massaroni said. “He’s a three-level scorer who is willing to get others involved. He has deep range from three and rebounds the ball very well for his size.”
Said Terrance ‘Munch’ Williams of the PSA Cardinals: “Boogie is one of the most complete guards in the country. He will be ready from day one on and off the court. The most powerful skillset he has is the ability to win. The world should get ready for him to do just that at Arkansas.”
The former Kentucky commit flipped to Arkansas during his visit this week. He asked for his release from Kentucky after John Calipari left for the Hogs.
Asked what Calipari’s message was, Fland told ZAGSBLOG on Sunday, “I mean same thing, same thing he told me when he was at Kentucky.”
When Fland initially committed to Kentucky in October, he told On3: “Coach Cal is going to challenge me to be the best version of myself. He didn’t promise me anything, playing time, shots, etc. He only promised me a chance to compete and fight! The first fight is with myself every day and I’m betting on me.”

Fland, who went 3-0 in the McDonald’s All-American Game, the Nike Hoop Summit and the Jordan Classic, averaged 19.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.6 steals this season.
He was named New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA) All State Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season.
Calipari already landed a commitment from former Kentucky pledge Karter Knox, and former Kentucky commit Billy Richmond is also visiting Arkansas.
When Fland was committed to Kentucky and Knox was not, Fland told ZAGSBLOG he was recruiting Knox to join him.
“Yeah, we’re trying to get Karter Knox, we’re trying to get Karter Knox,” he said in January at the Hoophall Classic.
