Four-star ’26 guard Julius Price discusses summer goals, updates recruitment

May 11, 2025 by Zags Blog

MESA, AZ — Class of 2026 four-star guard Julius Price is used to being a winner. This past high school season with St. Rose (CA), Price won CIF. He’s looking to carry that momentum with Team WhyNot this summer.

“Our 15s last year, they won Peach Jam,” Price told ZAGSBLOG. “We saw how much fun they had, so we want to do the same.”

That goal is off to a great start. Team WhyNot finished with a 3-0 record at EYBL Session 1, and Price had a hand in their success. He averaged 5.0 points and 1.7 rebounds in Mesa while shooting 42.9% from the field. His best game was an 8-point outing with three assists in a blowout win vs. The Family.

“I’m a very versatile point guard,” Price said of his game. “I can pass. I can shoot. I can drive, penetrate, shrink in the defense. But my main most impressive thing that a lot of coaches think is my shooting ability. I think I’m a very good shooter.”

The 6-foot-4 guard is working on being more of a vocal leader this summer.

“I’ve improved over the last few years, but just getting the guys — if one of my teammates has his head down, kind of picking him up,” Price said.

Recruitment wise, Price holds offers from Arizona State, Cal, Stanford, UCF, Washington and Washington State. Cal, Stanford and Purdue were in to see him during the high school season. He broke down those three programs below:

Stanford: “Coach [Jim] Shaw is the most in contact. I like their playstyle. And you don’t just get basketball there. You get academics too. It sets you right for life if you go to Stanford, and my parents want me to get an education too. So just kind of balancing basketball and academics, and they have both there. So, yeah.”

Cal: “They’re a very good basketball school and academics as well. I have an eye on them too.”

Purdue: They are obviously a very good basketball school. They’ve been to the Final Four a lot. They went to the national championship two years ago. So they’re definitely one of the top schools in the country. Who doesn’t want to play for a top team?”

Price has taken just one visit so far in the process to Minnesota, but that was under the old staff. The new staff with head coach Niko Medved hasn’t reached out yet, Price said. The guard plans on taking some more visits this summer including Stanford “soon.”

When it comes down to making a decision, Price is looking at several factors.

“A playstyle that will fit me,” Price said. “A coaching staff that I like and feel like I can connect with on and off the court. What they want me to do on the court and kind of their expectations on and off the court. So those are the main things. The team camaraderie, all of that.”

Price has a younger brother, Malcolm Price, who attends St. Rose with him and plays on the Team WhyNot 16 team. He’ll be staying loyal with St. Rose for his senior season of high school basketball.

The four-star guard is ranked the No. 73 overall prospect in the 2026 class by 247Sports. Price has dual citizenship with the United States and Sweden. He plays with the Swedish National Team and most recently averaged 21.6 points at the U18 European Championships in 2024.
