Kansas landed another commitment in the class of 2026, with four-star guard Luke Barnett announcing his commitment to the Jayhawks on Friday. Barnett chose Kansas over Miami and UNLV.
“Just going on the visit, talking to the coaches and seeing the culture at Kansas,” Barnett told CBS Sports about his commitment. “I just feel like it’s a great spot… I can go in and get better and really improve and it’s a great culture for me to be in.”
Barnett – a senior at Mater Dei (CA) is a 6-foot-4 guard and is viewed as one of the best shooters in his class. Spending his summer with the Arizona Unity, Barnett shot an impressive 47% from deep on catch-and-shoot opportunities. He is also an underrated interior finisher, converting on 71% of his shots at the rim this past summer.
“I think I’m a really good shooter,” Barnett told ZAGSBLOG this summer. “I can do a lot of things on offense. I can playmake, handle the ball. Defensively I play hard, I’m scrappy, dive on loose balls, try to do my best to rebound. I feel like I try to do everything.”
Barnett is joining a recruiting class that has quickly become one of the top classes in the class of 2026. He is joined by five-star Taylen Kinney, four-star Davion Adkins and four-star Trent Perry to round out the recruiting class thus far. The Jayhawks have also been heavily involved with multiple uncommitted five-stars.
He is a four-star recruit and ranked as a top-150 player nationally, according to 247Sports.
