Four-star Jasiah Jervis talks strong EYBL start with NY Rens, updates recruitment

KANSAS CITY, KS — Class of 2026 four-star guard Jasiah Jervis has played a crucial role in the NY Rens’ 10-1 start on this summer’s Nike EYBL circuit, including a stretch where they won their first nine games. At 6-foot-4, 180 pounds, the guard is one of the top players in the state of New York and is coming off his third consecutive New York championship with Archbishop Stepinac. Jervis has averaged 16.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game through the first three sessions of the season.

The NY Rens’ 10-1 start has caught the attention of many fans around the nation, but Jervis isn’t surprised with his team’s strong start.

“I definitely did expect it,” Jervis told ZAGSBLOG. “The team that we have, the structure that we have with this program, everybody wants to win and everybody’s got one goal. Nobody has an ego on this team. We all want to see each other win and succeed.”

As a bigger guard, Jervis is a talented two-way player and a consistent scorer at all three levels. He also takes pride on his defensive abilities and will always willingly guard his opponent’s best player.

So far in the recruitment process, Jervis has gained interest from various schools across the nation. The guard holds offers from Cal, High Point, Hofstra, Illinois, Manhattan, NC State, Northwestern, Pitt, Quinnipiac, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Bonaventure, St. John’s, St. Louis, Stanford, Villanova, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. He’ll be taking official visits to Northwestern from Aug. 1-3 and Rutgers from Oct. 17-19.

Here’s his breakdown of some of the schools involved:

Rutgers: “It was a great environment. I went for a football game, so that was pretty cool, getting a chance to meet all the fans and all the players. I got a chance to meet Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey and it was just a great environment out there.”

Pittsburgh: “Same thing. Coach [Jeff Capel] calls me a dog. He’s always texting me, calling me after games. Same thing with him. They let their guards play. That’s one thing he told me from the jump. I would like to be coached by someone that lets me play my game.”

Wake Forest: “They haven’t really been recruiting me hard. They recently just got back involved with me. They offered me summer of sophomore year. [Steve Forbes] loves my game, loves the way I shoot, loves the way I playmake and is looking forward to getting me on campus as well.”

Illinois: “Same thing. They’re very involved in my recruitment. That’s probably one of the top five schools that I would say is involved the most. I would definitely be interested in taking a visit to their campus.”

Northwestern: “I take pride in my grades. My parents always say schoolwork first, basketball after. Same thing. They let their guards play. They trust their guards to do whatever it takes to help them win and they’re a winning program. The Big Ten is one of the best conferences I would say.”

Villanova: “They definitely let their guards play. Chris Jeffrey, I know him, he just committed there. Once he saw me get the offer, he was very hype about it. They got Acaden Lewis too. I saw they recruited a lot of guards. That’s definitely a school that I’ll take interest in, because they just let their guards play.”

Jervis said there isn’t a current timeline for his recruitment, as he’s focused on finishing the EYBL season strongly and competing for a Peach Jam title next month.

He plans on taking more visits in the fall and is looking for “a group that’s like a family and welcomes me into their home.”

Jervis is rated as a four-star recruit and is the No. 62 overall player in the class if 2026, according to 247Sports.
