Four-star point guard Prince-Alexander Moody recaps Indiana visit, schedules more officials

By SAM LANCE

With a break in the action from summer basketball, class of 2026 four-star point guard Prince-Alexander Moody took an official visit to Indiana this week.

Moody — the 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard — tripped Indiana after a productive week at DMV Live. There, he helped Bishop McNamara (MD) to a 4-0 record with schools like Indiana, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Kansas courtside.

“First time Bishop McNamara has ever went 4-0,” Moody told ZAGSBLOG. “We’ve never went 4-0 in that space. So hopefully we can stay undefeated. But it was good. We’re starting to get to know each other better. We’re starting to figure each other out and knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses. So it’s been pretty good so far.”

The point guard has also played a huge role for Team Takeover 17u this summer, who sits at 10-1 to lead the EYBL. Moody’s averaged 12.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 steals so far and eyes a Peach Jam title in July.

“We dropped one, but I don’t think we’re going to drop another one,” Moody said. “We just need a killer mentality and learn how to step on peoples necks. That’s really it.”

Moody describes himself as a “one of a kind” point guard who shines on the defensive end. He’s working on all aspects of his game.

“Right now it’s just becoming more of a lethal shooter,” Moody said. “And I’ve been working on my post game. So just trying to add as much stuff to my game as possible so I can become a complete player.”

On his trip to Indiana, Moody was able to tour the Bloomington campus, see the football and basketball stadiums and watch Darian DeVries‘ group practice.

“I learned about their history,” Moody said. “They had like a downtown and a north and south Bloomington. It’s all like a little village, and it’s such a basketball village. There’s probably 50,000 people in this place. And it’s crazy. The stadium is so big and the football stadium fits 54,000 people. The basketball fits 17,200. Like that’s crazy — imagine playing in that type of atmosphere. So I saw the gym and it was just crazy.”

As for what he thinks of DeVries?

“He’s one of those new day coaches,” Moody said. “He builds the game around certain pieces and he really knows how to coach. The style of play is great. He lets you play with freedom. It’s like watching an NBA team basically. It’s really like watching an NBA team for real, if I’m being honest. I went to watch their practice and it was great. It was definitely good to watch that.”

After Peach Jam in July, Moody will officially visit Virginia Tech at the end of the month. He also has a visit set up with Oklahoma State on Sept. 19 and is planning trips to Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. Moody named Georgetown and Maryland as other schools involved in his recruitment, and he holds other offers from the likes of Georgia, Illinois, Louisville, Michigan State, Providence and Syracuse, among others.

Moody broke down some of the other schools involved:

Oklahoma State: “Steve [Lutz] is my dog. He lets you play with freedom, but you really got to defend over there, and I like that. So Steve, I like the way he coaches. They definitely give you freedom there at Oklahoma State, which is pretty cool to me.”

Vanderbilt: “I talked to the head coach [Mark Byington], and I love their campus. I also love the coaching staff. I haven’t really watched them play, but when I did, they played with freedom. And they played fast. I like the coaches that play fast.”

Virginia Tech: “I just think they’re a great program. Yeah, Virginia Tech is a high level program. I’ve known Mike Young for a little while, for about two years. They’re definitely building something over there. I like the way they play for sure.”

When picking a final school, Moody wants a program that shows him consistent love, feels like home and will build him into the best player he can be.

“It really comes down to the relationships,” Moody said. “I think the relationships with your coaches is the most important thing because it can be a lifelong thing.”

Moody is ranked the No. 104 overall prospect in the 2026 class by On3. His hobbies outside of basketball include playing video games, drawing and cooking.
