HOYA SAXA! 2025 F Jayden Fort to Reclassify to 2024 and Join Georgetown

The DC native tells Colby Giacubeno he plans to redshirt

The Georgetown Hoyas have added the 6’8” forward from DC, Jayden Fort. Fort, originally the class of 2025, committed Friday evening, reclassifying to 2024, and told Colby Giacubeno that he plans to redshirt this season. With this addition, Ed Cooley will have at least 7 true freshman on his 2024-25 roster.

Fort told Giacubeno, “The biggest thing for me was how Coach Cooley has a plan for me … They brought me in and were showing how they’d use me and it was straight love.”

When discussing those plans, Fort told Giacubeno, “I’m going to redshirt this year and that’s big time to me. I just don’t think there’s any better development for me than to be on a college campus. They showed me the players that they’ve had in the past at my position and almost every one of them went on to be all-conference dudes and pros. They see me developing exactly like those players. That proved to me that Coach Cooley knows what he’s doing, especially at my position.”

Fort told On3, “I chose Georgetown because of the love I got from them as soon as we met. It feels like home and I get to stay in my city. Coach Cooley and his staff have a plan for me and they are willing to invest themselves into me, for me that means a lot.”

Describing his game to On3, Fort said, “I would say my game is versatile. I can impact the game on both sides of the floor and I can guard multiple positions.”

Fort joins a highly rated 2024 class of Thomas Sorber, Kayvan Mulready, and Caleb Williams, as well as recent front court additions Seal Diouf and Julius Halaifonua—and don’t forget Drew McKenna who redshirted last season. Fall practice should be fun!
