Four-star shooting guard Lucas Morillo committed to Illinois on Friday, 247Sports’ Dushawn London reported. Morillo is a 6-foot-7 guard from New York and is a senior at the Newman School (MA). He chose Illinois over UCLA, Marquette, Minnesota, Virginia and Texas.
Morillo was one of the biggest stock risers this past summer, constantly playing standout basketball on the Nike EYBL circuit. For City Rocks, he averaged 14.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
He is an elite ball-handler for his size and has one of the most mature skillsets in his class. Morillo has also spent time playing for the Dominican Republic’s U19 team at the FIBA U19 World Cup. He was the team’s leading play maker and averaged 4.3 assists per game at the tournament.
Morillo is Illinois’ third commit in the class of 2026, joining three-stars Ethan Brown and Landon Davis.
He is a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 56 overall recruit in the class of 2026.
