Following a summer in which he broke out as a shot-maker and proficient scoring threat, Class of 2027 guard RJ Moore is now one of the country’s fastest rising recruits.
A four star capable of sticking shots on the move, evoking space-creation off the dribble, and levitating above the rim with relative ease, Moore brings a two way uniqueness which registered its presence with Garner Road (NC) this summer.
Now at Ambassador Christian (NC), Moore is firmly entrenched on the high major radar, with a recent offer from Mississippi State. Rutgers, Utah, and Georgia Tech are among the programs which been in active pursuit of the 6-foot-7 Moore.
He is hearing from a vast array of potential suitors–Michigan, Tennessee, Georgetown, Wake Forest, and Cincinnati as some of the most consistent at the moment–as he again takes on a prominent role at an Ambassador Christian program which has re-tooled its roster and has ramped up its strength of schedule for 2025-26.
It’s no secret, versatility and an adeptness of feel for the game are bedrock assets factoring into Moore’s status as a stock riser.
“Being able to handle, being able to play multiple positions, being able to play the point and in the post, it definitely creates an advantage on the court (at 6-7),” Moore said.
“I think my role (at Ambassador) will again be scoring and facilitating. We have a lot of new pieces this year that we have added. It will make a lot more competitive and I think overall we are a better team right now.”
With long arms and a shiftiness to him, Moore has shown he can create and dictate the tempo as a primary ball handler.
Moore’s father, Ricky Moore, is currently an assistant coach at North Carolina A & T.
He won a national championship at UCONN as a player in 1999 and again as an assistant coach under then-coach Kevin Ollie.
Being around the game his entire life ultimately shaped RJ Moore’s mentality.
“I was always in the gym,” he said. “Always.”
