Things have quickly gone from bad to worse for New York on the injury front.
New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby left Friday night’s game against the Miami Heat in the first quarter with a left hamstring strain, the team announced.
The Knicks were already entering Friday’s game down their best player and captain, Jalen Brunson, who ran the team’s offense at an All-NBA level.
Now, they will likely be without their best perimeter defender for a significant stretch early on in the season.
Anunoby had been off to a great start this season, averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 39% from long distance and guarding the opposing teams best player.
The outlook for his injury still remains to be seen but hamstring strains are generally an injury teams treat very cautiously.
