Boasting a game predicated on two-way versatility and positional uniqueness, Class of 2026 wing Jaron Saulsberry recently announced he would be transferring from Norcross HS to Wheeler (GA) for a heavily anticipated senior season.
A 6-foot-7, 193-pound prospect with a high motor and defensive aptitude, Saulsberry turned in several convincing performances throughout the EYBL circuit this summer.
“At Wheeler, I’m just another wing,” said Saulsberry.
“My role for this team is kind of similar to what it was at Norcross. Same focus.”
While Saulsberry has garnered offers from the likes of Auburn, TCU, Southern California, Boston College, LSU, Georgia Tech, and Texas A & M, among various others, it would appear Ole Miss, NC State and SMU are among the programs in most active pursuit of him.
Saulsberry is slated for an official visit to Ole Miss on Sept. 27th.
“I’m excited (for the Ole Miss visit),” explained Saulsberry.
“I can’t wait to see how the team is, to get out on campus and experience everything.”
As he has said previously, Saulsberry has developed a connection with Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard.
I know Chris Beard really likes to win,” Saulsberry told ZAGSBLOG last month.
“He wants someone who likes to win as well. I’m a very competitive player, that is really going to play along. I’m a guy who prides himself on playing through adversity. The way he coaches, coach Beard gives his guys freedom and lets everyone go. That’s really what he was emphasizing to me. It is like a position-less team over there. I would say that I am someone that people want to play with.”
It is too early in Saulsberry’s recruitment to make sweeping proclamations about Ole Miss being the favorite. Both SMU and NC State have been consistent throughout the process.
“We’ve been speaking with (SMU) and my Dad is in the process of trying to get (an official visit) scheduled there as well,” Saulsberry said.
While Saulsberry is known to infuse lineups with electrifying athleticism, his pull-up jumper and outside shooting presence were major factors this summer.
His IQ and feel for the game, along with his knack for defensive stops, were equally noteworthy.
