Wesley Cardet Jr. is headed to Providence.
The 6-foot-6 junior guard from Tallahassee, Fla., averaged 18.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists as a junior at Chicago State while shooting 44% from the field and 34% from deep.
Cardet is the fourth incoming transfer for coach Kim English and his staff, following Georgia guard Jabri Abdur-Rahim, Saint Joseph’s big man Christ Essandoko and Miami guard Bensley Joseph. Cardet and Abdur-Rahim had dinner together Saturday in Providence.

“I feel like we shared a vision for how he sees me in the future,” Cardet told the Providence Journal. “I’m going to rock with Coach English. He showed me everything I needed to see.
“He showed me he’s going to push me to be the best player I can be, and that’s all I needed.”
Cardet began his career at Samford and spent the last two seasons at Chicago State, which underwent a coaching change, with Scott Spinelli coming in to replace Gerald Gillion
Of the NIL situation at Providence, English is feeling good.
“Money is not an issue,” English said recently on The Field of 68 podcast. “We’re not going to lose a player. Our biggest donors have really stepped up and made it clear, if we need a player, we’re not going to let money be the issue.”
