After losing several transfers this offseason, Rutgers added a key player via the Transfer Portal on Sunday.
Aundre Hyatt, the 6-foot-6 LSU transfer from The Bronx, committed to the Scarlet Knights. He averaged 4.0 points and 3.1 rebounds as a sophomore. He went for 13 points and 10 boards in LSU’s first-round NCAA Tournament over over St. Bonaventure.
“Aundre said it was important to play in front of his family, friends, and loved ones and he wanted to be back in the Northeast to finish his collegiate career,” said his mentor, Mike Mathews.
“Coach [Steve] Pikiell said that he adores Aundre…..always had and always will and he will be a player who will bring value and experience to his program.”
Hyatt initially chose LSU in 2018 over Rutgers and Seton Hall after visiting Rutgers that year.
The Scarlet Knights lost center Myles Johnson to UCLA, Montez Mathis to St. John’s, Mamadou Doucoure to La Salle and Jacob Young.
