St. John’s has landed a commitment from Class of 2025 Swedish Casper Pohto of Sunrise Christian Academy (KS), per multiple reports.
Pohto, who is repped by agent Clay Milnes of WTM Sports Group, will be St. John’s 14th scholarship player out of a maximum of 15.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard visited the Big East school last week.

Pohto joins four-star prospect Kelvin Odih — the 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard out of SoCal Academy and the Rhode Island Elite Puma AAU program — among high school recruits for 2025. St. John’s is also bringing in international prospect Imran Suljanovic, although he is not yet in the country to do I-20 Visa issues. He is expected to be in the fold later this summer.
Head coach Rick Pitino had previously said you “can’t win big” with high school kids but apparently relented after landing the nation’s No. 1 transfer portal class consisting of Bryce Hopkins, Dillon Mitchell, Dylan Darling, Ian Jackson, Joson Sanon and Oziyah Sellers.
St. John’s, ranked No. 1 in some preseason polls, also returns All-Big East center Zuby Ejiofor, the Big East Most Improved Player last season.
