Three-star class of 2026 prospect Marquis Clark talks standout summer, updates recruitment

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Class of 2026 three-star prospect Marquis Clark simply puts the ball in the hoop.

Clark, the 6-foot-1 point guard out of Whitney Young (IL), has been one of the best scorers in the EYBL this summer. Playing for Meanstreets, Clark averaged 15.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 22 games while shooting 48.3% from the field. He ran point guard and understands its importance.

“Being a leader,” Clark said. “Putting my teammates in places they need to be, spacing the floor out and being the second coach.”

The performances Clark’s put on this summer have earned him several Division I offers. Clark’s list includes Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green State, California, DePaul, Illinois, Illinois State, Loyola Chicago, Purdue Fort Wayne, SIU, St Louis, TCU, Tulsa, UIC and Western Michigan. He’s taken unofficial visits to DePaul, Loyola Chicago and St. Louis.

Clark broke down a few of those schools:

St. Louis: “The communication we have. I feel like we talked a lot. [Josh Schertz] showed very good interest. So I feel like we’ve got a good relationship. I took a couple visits. I saw how they played, they like, play fast, like how I like to play. Get up and down to court. I see they guard, they use ball screens a lot in that system.”

Loyola Chicago: “I visited down there a couple of months ago, it was pretty good. They play fast, too, and they defend 94 feet, so. These are all good programs. I feel like I can fit in every system.”

DePaul: “I took a visit there, watched their practices. I feel like they’re a good program too, they let their guards play.”

Clark hears from Western Michigan and Ball State frequently. He plans to cut down his list of schools soon and hopes to come to a commitment before the beginning of the school season.

”Just to build relationships with all coaches,” he said of what he’s looking for in a college home. “See what I can do in the program to help them. See what I have to do to fit in the system and stuff like that.”

Clark is the No. 40 point guard in the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. When he is not playing basketball, he enjoys hanging out with friends, sleeping and coloring.
