Top-75 jumbo guard Sammy Jackson commits to VCU

June 26, 2025 by Zags Blog

By SAM LANCE

Class of 2026 prospect Sammy Jackson has committed to VCU, he announced live to On3.

Jackson — the 6-foot-7 jumbo guard out of Roman Catholic (PA) and the Team Final Nike EYBL AAU program — chose the Rams over finalists Indiana, St. Joe’s and Texas. He took his official visit to VCU from June 16-17 and visited all of his finalists before making a final decision.

“They made me feel at home down on my visit,” Jackson said live. “I’ve been talking to them for a while and I’m just excited to get to work.”

In 11 games this summer with Team Final, Jackson has averaged 10.6 points, 4.3 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting over 40% from 3-point range. He ranks No. 9 at the EYBL 17u level in assists per game and is comfortable running the show for Team Final, who feature four-star wings Aiden Derkack and Luca Foster.

“I’m a big guard,” said Jackson, the No. 67 overall recruit per 247Sports. “So I’m 6’7-6-8. I play the one, the two, the three. I think my skill set’s unique. I’m able to dribble the ball, bring it up for my team, get into our sets, shoot the ball.”

Jackson is the son of Marc Jackson, who played seven years in the NBA and finished third in Rookie of the Year voting in 2000-01 with the Golden State Warriors. Jackson also has an older brother, class of 2025 power forward Shareef Jackson, who’s heading to Lafayette.

The guard is the first recruit in the 2026 class for head coach Phil Martelli Jr.

“Very versatile defender, cerebral player,” Team Final head coach Aaron Burt told ZAGSBLOG. “He’s tougher than he appears. Very elite passer, good shooter with elite court vision. Better days are head of him. He comes from a great basketball lineage. He’s a better person than player and very coachable.”
