UConn’s Alex Karaban is one of the most experienced and has become one of winningest players in college basketball. Karaban is in his fourth and final season at UConn, with his name being seen across many different NBA Draft big boards. The two-time national champion forward is averaging 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in the Huskies’ 13 games so far this season.
“I think that Alex Karaban is hiding in plain sight right now, I’ve been blown away at the feel for the game Alex Karaban has, how much he’s improves as a perimeter shooter, the way he impacts the game defensively,” NBA insider Kevin O’Connor said Tuesday. “He’s sneaky long, 6-foot-11 wingspan. He doesn’t have the best body, he’s not the best mover, but he’s always in the right spots. I think Alex Karaban is a lock to have a great NBA career, I think he’s gonna be in the NBA for ten or 12 years.”
Karaban’s one downside as a draft prospect is his age, having turned 23 years old last month.
He is ranked in the top-35 on many NBA Draft big boards and is viewed as a late first rounder or early second rounder. His skillset has also been compared to long-time NBA veteran Jared Dudley and current Boston Celtics sharpshooter Sam Hauser.
Karaban’s UConn Huskies are currently 12-1 and 2-0 in the Big East, as he looks to finish his collegiate career by earning his third national championship.
