According to SMU’s website, Sorem will lead and manage the administrative operations for the department’s budget. She will also head human resources and legal affairs, as well as be a contributor in day-to-day athletics.
Sorem joins SMU after an 11-year stint in Maryland in which she was named deputy athletic director in 2018 before serving as the senior deputy athletic director until Evans’ departure for the Mustangs in 2025. Sorem was also appointed to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee in Spring 2025.
Sorem’s responsibilities at Maryland during her tenure included overseeing the football and women’s basketball programs, football scheduling, revenue generation and oversight of business operations.
