Adams picked the Terps 10 days after decommitting from UConn.
Maryland men’s basketball finally has a commit in the class of 2025, and it’s a big one.
Combo guard Darius Adams, a 247Sports Composite five-star prospect, announced his commitment to Maryland on Instagram Tuesday. The news was first reported by On3’s Joe Tipton.

Adams, who stands 6-foot-5 and 165 pounds, was a McDonalds All-American at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana, this past season. He averaged 15 points per game on 40% shooting from the field and 32% from 3-point range on the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League circuit but is “widely considered to be a better shooter than that,” according to 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein.
The New Jersey native originally was committed to UConn before decommitting April 19. Adams picked the Terps over Georgetown, Michigan State and Tennessee, according to Tipton. He also had offers from Alabama, Indiana and Kansas, among others.
Adams is Maryland’s first commit since head coach Buzz Williams was hired April 1, and its only commitment in the 2025 class after combo guard Chris Jeffrey decommitted following former head coach Kevin Willard’s departure.
