Metcalf, a 6-foot-9 incoming senior from Germany with one year of eligibility remaining, stepped into a starting role for the Huskies in 2024-25 and was an immediate force on the defensive side of the ball. His 2.4 blocks per game was the most in the Coastal Athletic Association and ninth in Division I basketball, doing so in just 21.8 minutes per game across 32 games and 30 starts.
Metcalf averaged four points and five rebounds per game, with two offensive rebounds per contest. He notched a double-double Jan. 18 against Charleston, and had six games with at least four blocks.
New head coach Buzz Williams is now up to 11 total additions this offseason — two as freshmen and nine through the transfer portal. The Terps did not retain a single player from their 15-man 2024-25 roster following Kevin Willard’s departure after their Sweet 16 loss.
