The 5-foot-11 junior did not play during the 2023-24 season due to injury. However, she was exceptional in her 26 games played with the Cavaliers, posting 11.8 points and 9 rebounds per game. She also recorded seven triple-doubles.
Prior to her time at Virginia, McLean spent her freshman and part of her sophomore campaign at UConn. She never blossomed into much more than a bench piece with the Huskies, averaging just under three points per game in 24 contests her freshman year.
McLean, a Baltimore native, was a McDonald’s All-American and the No. 25 ranked recruit in her class.
“It’s fitting that the final piece to our recruiting is a local star in Mir McLean,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “I shared with Mir that I made a huge mistake not recruiting her the first time around in high school. I wasn’t going to let that happen a second time.”
