Nicha Kanpai, a junior on the Maryland women’s golf team, tied for 27th at NCAA Regionals Wednesday at Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Competing as an individual, Kanpai finished with a score of 221, which was plus-8 strokes overall. She will finish her junior season with four top-10 finishes this year, including a first place overall finish at the Cougar Classic in South Carolina last fall.
Kanpai’s has now concluded her third appearance in NCAA Regionals. Last year, she tied for 24th with the same score of 221, which was +5.
After winning a US Open Qualifying in Springfield, Virginia, Kanpai qualified for the US Women’s Open presented by Ally, which will take place at the Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wisconsin from May 29 to June 1.
