This is a Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.
Thursday was a busy day for Maryland football, as five recruits received offers from the program.
The Maryland program pursued two running backs in the class of 2027. Four star Tyson Robinson, from Brandon (Miss.) High School, and three star Xavier Bala, from St. Anthony’s High School, were both pursued. Robinson, who had 1,294 rushing yards, 607 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns last year, is ranked 36th in the ESPN 300; Bala, who had 1,050 rushing yards and 138 receiving yards last year, is ranked 295th.

Head coach Mike Locksley and offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton seem to view the position as an area to improve. The Terps had the third-fewest rushing yards in the Big Ten in 2024, and leading rusher Roman Hemby transferred to Indiana.
Wide receiver Xavier Brown, from Bishop McNamara High School, was the other class of 2027 player to receive an offer.

The Terps also looked toward the future, extending early offers to class of 2028 players Jordan Hicks and Anthony Blalock Jr. The Terps were the third Division I offer for Hicks, a cornerback from Mission Viejo, California, and the second Division I offer for Blalock Jr., a tackle from Youngstown, Ohio.
