This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.
The Panther City Lacrosse Club drafted Maryland men’s lacrosse graduate transfer Jonathan Donville No. 1 overall in the 2021 National Lacrosse League entry draft this past weekend. His selection marks the first time that a Terrapin was drafted first overall.
The 6-foot, 195-pound midfielder transferred to Maryland this past summer, after spending three seasons at Cornell University. He finished his time with the Big Red with 38 goals, 31 assists and 68 shots-on-goal. Donville’s dominant level of play led him to being named an Inside Lacrosse Second Team All-American in 2020.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of 2021 spring sports within the Ivy League, the Oakville, Ontario native received preseason All-American honors from the USILA and Inside Lacrosse and was also recognized as a Senior Class Award Candidate.
Four other Terps were drafted over the weekend, including Jake Higgins (Colorado Mammoth- Round 5), graduate transfer Keegan Khan (Colorado Mammoth- Round 4), graduate transfer Owen Prybylski (Vancouver Warriors- Round 4) and Logan Wisnauskas (Colorado Mammoth- Round 3).
