Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is the new passing king in the Big Ten.
On Saturday night, Tagovailoa surpassed Curtis Painter for the most passing yards in the history of the Big Ten (11,163 yards). That record was set back in 2005.
Tagovailoa has been awfully efficient at Maryland since 2021, throwing for at least 3,000 yards in each of the past three seasons. He entered this weekend’s game against Rutgers with 3,016 yards, 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on the season.
Immediately after Tagovailoa broke Painter’s record, Maryland honored him on social media.
“LIA LEGEND,” Maryland wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Taulia Tagovailoa is the Big Ten’s All-Time Leading Passer!”

Taulia, the brother of Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, could be NFL-bound once this season is over.
For now, Tagovailoa is trying to finish this season at Maryland in the best way possible.
