The Philadelphia Eagles will likely trade wide receiver A.J. Brown at some point in the offseason, and running back Derrick Henry wants the Baltimore Ravens to make the aggressive move. Henry and Brown both originally established themselves among the game’s elite with the Tennessee Titans, and now it appears as though both sides are hoping for a reunion.
Henry has already spoken out about an A.J. Brown trade earlier in the offseason, but his most recent appeal came with the wide receiver right next to him. The running back said “AJ to the Ravens” right next to the wideout, and Brown seemed to like the proposal. Is this just wishful thinking on Henry’s part, or could this trade actually come to fruition?
Derrick Henry Wants the Ravens to Trade For A.J. Brown
Let’s start with the obvious: the Ravens won’t get A.J. Brown unless the Philadelphia Eagles agree to trade him. Fortunately, that feels more and more likely by the day. Brown’s comments throughout the 2025 season make it clear that he doesn’t want to be there, and the Eagles are now at a point where trading him is financially possible.
Brown currently carries a $23.4 million cap hit for the 2026 season, and the Eagles can save $7.04 million by trading him after June 1st. This will also free up guaranteed money in 2027 and 2028, which the Eagles could use to re-sign their impending free agents. Seeing as Brown is entering his age-29 season, this will probably be the last time Philadelphia can get anything of note for him in a trade.
On the other side of the coin, the Ravens could use a receiver like A.J. Brown. Zay Flowers is a fine weapon, but the rest of the depth chart leaves a lot to be desired. Brown would provide some much-needed stability to the depth chart and could be the missing piece this team needs to finally make the Super Bowl with Lamar Jackson.
