Bill Belichick showers Ravens’ with compliments: ‘I think [the Ravens] definitely found their stride’

The eight-time Super Bowl champion head coach sees the Ravens having found their identity.

Among the viewers of Sunday night’s lopsided tilt between the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills was eight-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick, and he had nothing but high praise for the Ravens after their 35-10 win.

Joining The Pat McAfee Show, Belichick gave credit to the Ravens’ offense and their construction, and how they can beat up on just about anybody due to their blend of size and speed and how matching up against them causes problems.

“The Ravens have definitely found their stride the last couple of weeks..

Once Derrick Henry gets rolling he’s tough to stop and they’re a physical football team”

“Yeah, I do [think they’re playing like everybody expected before the season]. I think they definitely found their stride here the last couple weeks,” Belichick said. “Coming off of last year’s [AFC championship] game with the Chiefs, not running the enough, running game getting established, it’s so much easier to do that when you play from ahead [and] getting off to a good start like they did last night. And of course Derrick Henry, once he gets rolling he’s tough to stop. I think a little bit of Buffalo’s situation got exposed last night. Just their overall size and physicality, trying to play nickel the whole way or most of the way is just tough against a big, physical team like Baltimore. And as I’ve said before, Baltimore puts a lot of pressure on you because they’re probably the biggest and most physical offensive line, running team there is. But they’re also very, very fast with, obviously [Lamar] Jackson, Zay Flowers, [Nelson] Agholor — the receivers are very fast. So, if you put too much size and not enough speed out there, you got problems. And if you put too much speed and not enough size out there, you got problems, too. And [Justice] Hill was a big signing for them in last week or whatever it was, two weeks ago, and he is certainly a great dimension for them to add along with Henry.”

This echoes what Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh said on Monday following the game, as he noted they’re executing at a high level offensively and that’s even without their pass-catching stars making their impact.

“Mark Andrews is going to definitely have big games here catching the ball. Isaiah [Likely]’s going to have big games catching the ball – all those guys are,” Harbaugh said. “We’re going to have a big passing game coming up here at some point in time soon. It’s hard to predict when it’s going to be, because games go where they go, and the ball goes where it goes, and it’s just a competitive deal. My point is that the reason we ran the ball so well is because everybody was bought into the play that was being run in that moment and executed it so well.”
